We are excited to announce the start of a new parents (and caregivers!) of preschoolers group. This group, hosted by Peace Church, will meet monthly at the Jorgensen YMCA to gather for food and fellowship. The group’s name is Parents of Preschoolers-Upbuilding (POP-Up) and will be a space for caregivers (you don’t have to be a parent; grandparents, uncles, aunts, nannies . . . all caregivers are welcome!) to come together to share the joys and difficulties of helping to raise and care for preschool-aged children.
At each meeting we’ll have a theme or topic in one of five categories:
We might gather to hear from a child psychologist and discuss better ways to help our little ones manage their emotions, or we might gather to make monogrammed lunch sacks. We might gather to put together backpacks stuffed with supplies for families in need, or we might plan an evening out to have dinner together. And we will explore ways faith or meditative practices (not only Christian, but the faiths of any and all of our members) help us to stay grounded while raising children who seem to be always trying to ruffle our feathers.
While this group is supported by Peace Church, it is not a Christian-only group, nor does it aim to make converts. It is a group intended entirely for upbuilding our community of preschool caregivers. Keep an eye out for the details of our first meeting in October!
